Faculty Award for Excellence in Extension
Marshal D. McGlamery’s career could best be characterized as one of dedication to delivering science-based information to the people of Illinois. Due to his attendance at countless Extension meetings over the years, he has developed a reputation as the weed control expert. Through his excellent understanding of weed science, McGlamery has been able to identify problems and opportunities, often before they became major problems across the state. Illinois farmers and agribusiness personnel particularly appreciate his candid remarks concerning individual herbicide performance. McGlamery is in high demand as a speaker, and he is frequently invited to various state, regional, and national meetings. Blending science with common sense, his messages are meaningful, realistic, and practical and are seasoned appropriately with a keen sense of humor. His speaking engagements include agronomy days, field days, agricultural pesticide dealer and applicator clinics, and the annual Illinois Crop Protection Technology Conference. Known as a straight shooter who tells it like it is, McGlamery has provided the unbiased assessment that so many Extension clients indicate that they want from university Extension scientists. |
