College
Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching
Jasna
D. Jovanovic
It is no surprise that Jasna D. Jovanovic has been named to the "Incomplete
List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent" every semester since her
arrival to the college in 1993. Her mastery of the subject of human
development and family sciences (HDFS), her knowledge of how to teach,
and that extra, vital ingredient of genuine caring have made her an
extraordinary teacher, mentor, and adviser.
Jovanovics finest quality may be her ability to help students
realize their goals. For some, merely committing to a goal is a new
experience; for others, the self-confidence to reach for a goal needs
bolstering; and, for others, a role model who believes in them can
make all the difference.
Jovanovics contributions to the HDFS program have been many.
She has transformed the undergraduate program, especially with the
redesign of HDFS 105, "Introduction to Human Development."
Under her leadership, the HDFS student club went from near dissolution
to winning the ACES Club of the Year Award. She has also played a
key role in the recent redesign of the HDFS undergraduate curriculum. |
