Paul A. Funk Recognition Awards

Annually presented to faculty members in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, this distinguished honor recognizes outstanding professional achievement and major contributions to the betterment of agriculture broadly defined. Funds for the awards program are provided by the Paul A. Funk Foundation of Bloomington, Illinois, as a memorial to the late Paul A. Funk, who attended the college as a member of the Class of 1929 and devoted his life to agriculture.

To be eligible for the award, a nominee must hold a full-time appointment at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a paid appointment in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences for the current academic year. In addition, the nominee must have held similar university and college appointments for at least ten consecutive years immediately preceding the nomination. Both individual and team nominations may be considered, but no more than three award recipients will be selected each year.

The Paul A. Funk Recognition Award consists of an unrestricted personal award of $3,000, a recurring annual salary increment of $1,000, and a recognition plaque. In addition, $1,000 is granted to the recipient’s department or other administrative unit to support the recipient’s program.

This year's 1999 Paul A. Funk Recognition Award winners are:

      Neal R. Merchen
      John C. van Es
      Donald G. White
