Julie
Fesenmaier
In her six years with the Department of Human and Community Development,
Julie Fesenmaier has consistently and persistently put forward a vision
of how new electronic information and communication technology can
be used to help rural citizens develop themselves and their communities.
Fesenmaier was among the first to recognize that these new technologies
would transform the traditional flow of information in every sector
of the economy.
Fesenmaier is a prolific grant writer and has been successful in producing
over $487,000 for the development of technological tools that have
had a significant impact on communications technology, creating windows
of opportunity for the citizens of Illinois, especially rural citizens.
Although technologically sophisticated, Fesenmaier is far from narrow
in her expertise. Her knowledge base encompasses community development,
tourism, leadership, and program evaluation. Her interpersonal skills
emphasize collaboration and cooperation. The combination of content
expertise and process sophistication is dynamic. The partnerships
that Fesenmaier has built continue to give the department and the
College of ACES impressive visibility in Illinois, nationally, and
internationally. |
