Edward
N. Ballard
As a University of Illinois Extension animal systems educator in the
Effingham area for 34 years, Edward N. Ballard has provided extensive
and varied programming. His peers in the field and at the university
seek out Ballards valuable input and support. His research interests
vary from dairy corn silage, to Lake Decatur water quality, to beef
pasture quality, and alfalfa scissor clip. He thrives on developing,
promoting, and executing effective educational programs. Ballards
programs are superbly planned and timely and provide immediately applicable
information for busy producers. His efforts have resulted in some
of the most successful animal systems educational programs in Illinois.
Ballards Extension programs have also included 4-H livestock
ethics clinics, pasture management programs and research, waste management
certification clinics, statewide swine and beef programming, and other
areas of need, including dairy, sheep, horses, and meats.
Ballard has captured numerous awards from commodity groups and state
and national professional associations, as well as the U of I Extension.
Further recognition of his work is shown by his ability to secure
grants as the principal investigator or co-investigator, totaling
over $491,000 since 1994. |
